This is a static archive of the Python wiki, which was retired in February 2026 due to lack of usage and the resources necessary to serve it — predominately to bots, crawlers, and LLM companies.
Pages are preserved as they were at the time of archival. For current information, please visit python.org.
If a change to this archive is absolutely needed, requests can be made via the infrastructure@python.org mailing list.

The Python Wikipediabot Framework, also called pywikipedia is a set of bot scripts to do things on Wikipedia or other wikis using MediaWiki. It has been written by several people using the language Python. It is available form SourceForge or via SVN at http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/pywikipedia/trunk/pywikipedia/ For help go to #pywikipediabot @ freenode server or use the pywikipediabot mailing list. A guide to pywikipedia can be found here. There is also a wiki where is possible to test your scripts, Botwiki.
