Python Writers and Technical Editors
The purpose of this list is to serve as a contact point for those who need something written, and therefore the distinction between professional writers looking for big projects like books and those who want small freelance projects on the side.
If you write in languages other than english, please indicate this in your entry. We certainly need writers in other languages.

Big-Project Writers (for-hire)
CameronLaird has published dozens of articles and book chapters on Python (and hundreds more on other computing topics), and served as technical editor for several books, including Python and Tkinter Programming and Core Python Programming.
James Payne is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Developer Shed Network of sites and has been published in print and on the web 400+ times. His first book, Beginning Python: Using Python 2.6 and 3.1 was recently published by John Wiley and he has another book due to be published by Apress in May, 2010. Adrian Nye has published several large award-winning programming books through O'Reilly, and worked for O'Reilly for 10 years as author and editor. He is currently an active web developer using Python/Django.
Christopher Arndt is an independent software developer and Linux consultant based in Cologne, Germany, and a member of the TurboGears documentation team. He currently writes an introduction to Python for university students in German and an article for the German Linux magazine. He is interested in writing about web development, system administration and Python community topics, both in English and German. Co-author of O'Reilly book Python for Unix and Linux Systems Administration. Currently co-authoring a book for Manning on Google App Engine due to be finished December 2008, ISBN 1-933988-95-9. Very interested in writing about systems programming, and writing about boring subjects in a fun, quirky way. Extensive Feature Animated Film and Television knowledge base. Will McGugan - Currently writing a book about game development with Python for APress. Would like to write on a variety of Python topics, including graphics, networking and application development (wxPython).
Steve Holden - Author of Python Web Programming and a contributing editor to Python Magazine. His For Some Value of Magic ... blog is mostly Python-related, and he writes about the environments used by Python developers in the On Your Desktop blog. Steve also publishes occasional interviews with Python personalities.
Bhaskar Chaudhary, author of Tkinter GUI Application Development Hotshot is a professional programmer and information architect. He has almost 9 years of consulting, contracting, and educating experience in the field of software development. He has worked with a large set of programming languages on various platforms over the years.
Small-Project Writers (for-hire or volunteer)
Ivan Idris - Author of NumPy 1.5 Beginner's Guide, blogger and available for small writing projects. His main professional interests are Business Intelligence, Big Data and Cloud Computing. Ivan Idris enjoys writing clean testable code and interesting technical articles.

Andrew Kuchling - author of the "What's New in Python 2.x" documents (the most recent is for Python 2.7) and the occasional article. Available for writing.
Tarek Ziadé - author of "Programmation Python" (01/2006) in french, and "Python, petit guide à l'usage du développeur agile" (available 08/16/2007). Involved in a third book in french on a Python web framework, but can write on small projects besides. FRENCH but can do english.
Vasudev Ram - Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, author of some articles - on using xtopdf to generate PDF from other formats (for Packt Publishing, no link); Linux command-line utility development in C for IBM developerWorks; A vi editor quickstart tutorial and Using Knoppix to recover data from a crashed Linux system - the last two, both written for Linux For You magazine, now Open Source For You. An independent software consultant, trainer and open source developer (see my Products page) with several years of experience in multiple technologies including Python, C, UNIX, Java, Ruby, many relational databases, many open source technologies, PDF generation. Have both software development and UNIX/Linux system administration experience. Interested in writing articles on Python. Strong interest in exploring new technologies and writing useful/interesting articles and software projects based upon them.
Noah Gift - author of Python For Unix and Linux Systems Administration is also available for articles. I especially enjoy writing about systems programming, but also the standard library modules, Object Oriented Programming, Concurrency, and scary topics that melt the brain.

Wesley Chun, MSCS, is the author of Prentice Hall's bestseller, Core Python Programming (http://corepython.com), its video training course, Python Fundamentals (LiveLessons DVD), co-author of Python Web Development with Django (http://withdjango.com), and has also written various technical articles for Linux Journal and cNet. In addition to being a senior software architect and tech lead, he also runs CyberWeb (http://cyberwebconsulting.com), a consulting business specializing in Python software engineering and technical training. He has over 25 years of programming, teaching, and writing experience, including more than a decade of Python. While at Yahoo!, he helped create Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! People Search using Python. He holds degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Music from the University of California. He is available for short-term writing projects as an assistant (not lead writer) as well as for editorial tasks (see below).
UcheOgbuji is author of at least a hundred articles on Python or using Python examples and related topics, and over a hundred more on XML, Web services, Semantic technologies and such. Credits include columns for IBM developerWorks, XML.com, Application Development Trends, LinuxWorld and Intel Developer Network.
Al Sweigart is the author of Invent Your Own Computer Games with Python. He is a software developer in San Francisco, California who enjoys bicycling, reading, volunteering, haunting coffee shops, and making useful software. He is originally from Houston, Texas and went to school in Austin. He finally put his UT Austin computer science degree in a frame. He's always looking for projects to make programming accessible to everyone.

Gordon Webster is a co-founder at Digital Biology Partners, a company that specializes in life science applications of Python. Gordon writes about Python regularly online at The Digital Biologist.

He has developed Tools and Libraries in Python that are useful for Python developers. Mark Summerfield is co-author of C++ GUI Programming with Qt 3 and of C++ GUI Programming with Qt 4, and author of Programming in Python 3 and Rapid GUI Programming with Python and Qt. Interested in technical editing and reviewing, especially for Python, C++, Qt, and PyQt-related books.
Stef Maruch is the co-author (with Aahz Maruch) of Python for Dummies. Stef is relatively new to Python but has an extensive writing and editing background. She specializes in Mac OS and is interested in projects involving developmental editing, technical editing, and instructional design.
Aahz is the co-author (with Stef Maruch) of Python for Dummies. Aahz was the technical editor for Teach Yourself Python in 24 Hours, and a co-editor for Python How to Program and Game Programming: The L Line, plus minor contributions to the threading sections of Python in a Nutshell and Core Python Programming.
