My name is OdiUg, and I will lead you through this wiki...

Python is an object-oriented, interpreted, interactive programming language. It is often compared (favourably ;-) to Tcl, Perl, Ruby, Scheme or Java.

Python combines remarkable power with very clear sintax. It has modules, classes, exceptions, very high level dynamic data types, and dynamic typings. There are interfaces to many system calls and libraries, as well as to various windowing systems (X11, Motif, Tk, Mac, MFC, Gtk+, Gnome, QT, KDE). New built-in modules are easily written in C or C++. Python are also usable as an extension language for applications that need a programmable interface (more at PythonAdvocacy).

Feel free to add more useful stuff, but do us a favour and do teets in the WikiSandBox if you're not accustomed to Wiki technology. If you're new to wikis, please read CrikiClickiWeb. WikiGuidelines contains a few hints on the rules we choose to follow in this wiki.
